What is that you ask? Well, it's a combination of karaoke and presenting - the spin is that instead of singing to you're favorite tunes, you'll be presenting an unfamiliar presentation. Sound like fun? Of course it does.
If this sounds like something you'd like to try, heck even if you only want to watch the carnage, you can RSVP at… Continue

We talk about personal branding,… Continue
Yep, you heard right, this is the inaugural SMBMSP podcast. We'll be working on the format and content for the next event, but this first one was as much to see how it'd work as it was for fun.
Many, many thanks to Brad Bellaver for his patience and diligence in creating this podcast. He's a true pro.

I'm just blown away by that number. I know there are several folks that can't make it to every breakfast, and some that have joined and forgotten about us. However, I really have to thank all the great folks that truly make up SMB here in the Twin Cities - you're what makes each event really worth going to.
It's your interest, questions, ideas, and passion that drive our social media community to be one of the best in the country. There are many challenges facing each of us and our neighbors ri… Continue
Hi folks, Rick Mahn here. I wanted to share some news about SMB and hopefully gather some thoughts and ideas about 2009 from you.
I'm working with SMB founder Bryan Person in Austin on the national level for SMB. Great things are going to happen in 2009 for SMB, and I plan on bringing the best of them to everyone here in MSP. Since our event is the second oldest consecutive SMB, and also one of the largest, it's fun to help bring your voice to the national stage to advance our ideas of what the… Continue
Hi All!
While I apologize for not making it to the first MPLS SMHH at the Solera, I'm really excited to see more meetups & different types of events start to take shape. We've a strong and talented group of social media enthusiasts here in Minnesota, and I hope that we keep growing each other's opportunities as we move forward.
The great thing is that we all come from different backgrounds, and bring different perspectives or ideas. Likewise, some of us are early risers and some more comfor… Continue
Hi there folks, we had another great series of discussions in the group last Friday. I'm greatful for everyone who could make it over to Concordia in St. Paul - I know taking 2+hrs out of our busy days is not easy to do. I also want to thank everyone who joined us via the live video stream too! We had the chat window up on the overhead projector so everyone was able to read comments as they went by. We'll keep working to improve this aspect to make it more interactive. We do have the ability to… Continue
SMB - Twin Cities now has a "Twitter Crowd". Please let me know if you want your Twitters to be added to this public crowd. I want to make sure that people know that this is a 3rd party service, seperate from Twitter, and that the resulting URL is public.Visit SMB - Twin Cities Twitter CrowdContinue
As I was going through my feeds this week I ran across this post by Clay Shirky at his new blog that talks about a "cognitive surplus". Later I found a link via Mike Keliher to the actual speech from April 23rd 2008 at the Web2Expo in San Francisco. Very good stuff to make you think and is about 16:30 minutes long.
The text version of t… Continue
SMB Twin Cities 2 was a great success! While we gathered at a venue that was admittedly too small for the group, we had tremendous turnout! We had somewhere north of twenty SMBer's show up despite the nasty early April weather, and another 18-20 join us remotely via the video feed.
Over good coffee and cramped space, the conversation flourished. The group again had ideas of what they wanted to talk about, which I'm glad to see. These "organic" conversations are much more informative and enjoyab… Continue

I wanted to post a quick note thanking everyone for participating in our second SMB event. I'm working on getting the pictures, video, Twitter address list and recap. You'll see them go up over the rest of the day.
Personally I had a great time meeting more of the Minneapolis & St. Paul group of social media crew. We may not think about it often, but I believe Albert Maruggi is spot-on. There is a great group knowledgeable, helpful social media people here, comparable to many other places a… Continue

The next SMB here in the Twin Cities is scheduled for next Friday in Roseville! We're going to try out the conference facilities at the Caribou Coffee on Snelling there - just south of Hwy 36. You can find the Upcoming event here (http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/467223).
The room is bit smaller than last time, but is a full conference room with working WiFi, better seating arrangement, whiteboard, and darn good coffee. Hope to see you there!… Continue
