Thanks for the article. Totally true, there are also many huge corporations that want to participate in social media....but have the legal, brand and PR team foaming at the mouth to ridicule and approve every communication that represents the company.
They can't be on Facebook, because they are too afraid of damaging their brand if their logo appears next to objectionable user generated content. And they can't be on Twitter because every post needs to be approved and adjusted by 10 managers, brand, PR and legal. YouTube is unthinkable because users may post negative comments beneath their videos. Social Networking becomes a risky place where they potentially loose control of their brand when users take the reigns. They hear Twitter discussed on Public Radio and want to "get into" social networking, but trip over their own big brand name.
