Social Media Breakfast - Twin Cities

Connecting over eggs & coffee in the land of 10,000 lakes

Alright all you graphic designers and artistic types, since I'm just an 'ol "IT" techy geek, I didn't get to art school and can't design my way out of a paper bag (what's wrong with brown paper anyway). I'd love to have an "official" logo for SMB-TC!! Something that we can share and use when posting about it or linking to stuff.

Anyone have some ideas? Any suggestions on this site colors and such? There are predefined themes, but there is some freedom to customize some things. Anyone?

John, will you make it SMB-TC5 at the MPLS Library this Friday? If so, we're going to throw some of the submissions from this thread at everyone and see what the group likes/dislikes/suggests.

Hope to see you there!

I will be there. I can't wait!

Like Mike K., I like where you're going with this idea. Another thing that is represented in this is the "dome"... at least in the first one, it reminded me of that as well as the lakes and such.

Great direction John!

More ideas...

It's pretty hard to incorporate Mpls, St. Paul, Minnesota as a whole, social media AND breakfast in one logo without getting busy.

John might be on the right track with the egg!

All excellent. I really like the top two.

Here's the full suite, ya'll.

I like #4 best.

For the font: It would be cool if we could get our hands on the "Twin" font by LettError!

I vote for #10 for horizontal-friendly spaces and #1 for things like the Twitter icon, etc. #3 is nice too.

1, 7, or 10, with 7 as my favorite. Although because of how we've branded ourselves on twitter and ning et.al. we should probably change from twin cities to msp.

I like 1, 2 and 7, but let's not forget Thomas' wonderful 11. :)

Things to consider:
- Benefit of avatar-friendly shapes (circle in #10, square in #1, overall in #4)
- Fonts, layouts, colors, etc. can be easily changed - these are meant to be working designs, not final products

I don't know if my vote counts since I made a couple of them, but I think my favorites are 10 and 4. I wish we actually had eggs this morning!

I agree with you on all of the considerations, another thing to consider is this logo is setting smb precedence. There aren't many out there and from what was discussed today it seems as though MSP is ahead of the curve for these meetings. I like 3, 4 and 10.
